How it works
Each claim is searched for and against. Sources are graded by kind: primary record, independent fact-checker, established publisher or unverified. Copies of the same wire story count once, and a firm verdict needs independent backing.
It is a check against the sources that can be found now. It never certifies a story as true or false, and "no independent source found" does not mean a claim is false.
Your privacy
We do not keep what you paste, and it is never used to train anything. To count the 3 daily checks we keep a scrambled code made from your connection that changes every day and is deleted after two days. No cookie, no account.
